In this four week Eco workshop we will learn to use the Tannin/Iron combination to create beautiful grey back ground combination for Eco Printed cloth with added text in black printing paste or discharge it in white.
Oak Gall Tannin, a natural dye has been used for hundreds of years with combination of Iron to make Black ink and dye cloth in a natural and permanent way.
You will learn about their relationship and how to use it as a dye bath, as an Ink, as a printing paste and as a discharge over the 4 sessions, at each session you will learn a technique and produce some art work.
Week one: We make a tannin bath and eco print with it on paper and fabric
Week two: `We make an Oak Gall ink and make marks with it mainly on paper
Week Three: We make a black printing paste and learn to screen print with it shapes and text on fabric.
Week Four: We make a discharge paste and learn to screen print with it on fabric
This workshop is for beginners as well as well as more advanced participants.
You will receive a shopping list and a list of instructions before the workshop.
If you live in the UK you have the option to order a starter pack from me with iron/tannin, material and screen.
The sessions will take place on zoom in real time but you will get access to the recording to replay for 4 weeks. You need a good speed internet to be able to see it live.
There will be a simple PDF sent out after the workshop is over.
