Join our WebJam, hosted online via Zoom and learn to make a cloth mask for you or to donate! Learn how to sew by hand on a machine.

With the CDC’s recommendations, we want to encourage you to learn how to create your own cloth face mask! Make your own to wear when you leave the house or make a few to donate to those in need of face coverings in your community. Join our WebJam, hosted online via Zoom, and learn how to make your own face masks by either hand sewing or using a sewing machine while also giving back – 50% of profits will be donated to Artist Relief, supporting artists during COVID-19.

In this WebJam, our JamMaster will teach you how to:

  • Measure and cut your fabric
  • How to get started with hand sewing or machine sewing
  • Walk you through step by step how to create your mask, following the instructions posted by the CDC
  • How to finish and wear your mask

This WebJam is beginner-friendly for those who will hand sew their masks. If you plan to use a sewing machine, basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine is required.

Need mask sewing supplies? Support CraftJam and its creative community and order a Mask Sewing Starter Kit! We will ship you the kit with all the right materials needed to participate.

Suggested Supplies:

  • Two 10”x6” rectangles of cotton fabric
  • Two 6” pieces of elastic (or rubber bands, string, cloth strips, or hair ties)
  • Needle and thread (or bobby pin)
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine (if available)

And this is how the WebJam will work:

Register for your free ticket (via the Eventbrite link on this page), then you will receive a confirmation email reserving your spot. An email with the URL link to join the Zoom meeting will be sent the day prior to the Mask Sewing WebJam. Make sure to login 10 minutes before the Craft Circle starts to avoid technical difficulties that may delay you.

We strongly recommend using video and audio to participate so we can all see each other’s faces and projects!
